Reducing Green House Gases PDF Print E-mail

A recent study was conducted by our Canadian partner Pure Energy. It compared the Green House Gas (GHG) emissions of Single Use batteries compared to Rechargeable Alkaline's like Grandcell during manufacturing.

The following results are based on the GHG emissions required to produce a battery using electricity from Coal burning power stations:

1 AA or AAA battery = 132g GHG

To put this into context they considered 10 million people using a MP3 player playing 20 hours of music a week. Over a period of 4 years this would result in:

524 AAA Single Use Batteries compared with only 32 AAA Grandcell Rechargeable Alkaline Batteries

In terms of GHG emissions for 10 million people using MP3 players this equates to:

690 tons GHG compared wth 42 tons using Grandcell Rechargeable Alkalines

It makes good enviromental sense to use Rechargeables. Not only to reduce GHG's but Landfill too.
