Caring For Your Batteries

Storage
  • Store batteries in a cool, well-ventilated area. High temperatures can reduce battery life.
  • Remove batteries from appliances if they will not be used for extended periods.
Handling
  • Always replace used batteries with new batteries of the same size and type.
  • Ensure batteries are inserted correctly. Follow the positive (+) and negative (-) symbols to ensure correct polarity.
Safety
  • Do not dispose of batteries in fire. They may explode or leak.
  • Don't carry loose batteries in a pocket or bag with metal objects such as coins, keys, jewellery etc. They may short-circuit the battery, generating high heat.
  • Don't recharge a battery unless it is specifically marked "rechargeable." Attempting to recharge a single-use battery could result in rupture or leakage.
  • Don't attempt to charge rechargeable alkaline batteries in a nickel cadmium or nickel metal hydride charger, or any appliance with a built-in charger. Leakage may occur.
  • Don't mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries. This can cause rupture or leakage.
  • Don't give batteries to young children.
